Im Late but IM READY!!!!!

Sorry sports fans im late on posting these picks, but when 2 hours of pick up basketball calls you answer, ok where did we leave off? Right it was Week 7 I went 9-4 for the winnners and predicted the Lions losing and Broncos winning BAM. Lets do it again my brain has new intel and my paper has new winners and analysis AND MY GAMES OF THE WEEK AND SOME SPECIAL ANALYSIS FOR MY AMIGO NICKS TEAM THE EAGLES LETS TAKE IT FROM THE TOP!!!!
COLTS VS TITANS (Titans)
AFC south matchups this weekend with my TEXANS sitting atop the division somebodies gotta come in second and I'm calling Matt bringing it home for the Titans because of the non-existent Colts offense and Titans actually being a consistent team they will take the win home.
Saints vs Rams(Saints)
Quite frankly im expecting another 62-7 game hahahaha but seriously the Rams defense is put under alot of strain because of the lack of wide reciever production and eventually they snap as we saw with the Dallas blowout. If they snapped under against Dallas they will shatter against the Saints who apparently dont understand the concept of mercy.
Dolphins vs Giants(Giants)
The Dolphins are better off starting me at QB(I played Offensive Line at Valpo for 5 games) they litterally just need someone to get it to thier number one weapon BRANDON MARSHALL, but besides that thier are so many other issues with the Dolphins program they cannot play a complete game against the always deadly Giants they have a complete team the offense is well balanced they are still serching for a lead reciever but the good thing is that everyone at that position is throwing thier name in for consideration and all have good arguments, Thier running back tandem is highly effective, thier defense althought extremely injury ridden has been very effective at not only allowing the team pull out key victories but also save the team when the offense is stalled.
Viking vs Panthers (Panthers)
The two new Kids on the block in a showdown both have big time running backs, Adrian Peterson and Jonathan Stewart and De Angelo Williams for the Panthers. The key difference here is the talent of both quarterbacks for those who dont know Ponder actually has soe rushing ability but the fact is Cam still is the more talented, and for the third strainght week im going with Mr.Prime Time Cam Newton and the Panthers.
Cardinals vs Ravens ( Ravens)
Ok ok i know what everyones thinking man the Cardinals sucks, wrong! the Cardinals have been in every game theyve played and almost upset the Giants. This my friends is why I believe the Ravens will rise to the occasion and defeat the Cardinals. The fluke on Monday night football pitted them agaisnt a defense as top notch as Ray lewis and friends ( look it up its totally true fool the Jags always have D) and they do not face such competition in the Cardinals and therefore will bull doze them oh and Ray Rice 100 plus yards and 2 Td's
Jags vs Texans(Texans)
Ok You guys know what the deal is this my hometown team and YOU NEVER PICK AGAINST THE HOMETOWN TEAM ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY'RE playing the Jags. We win because
we CAN SCORE A TOUCHDOWN.
Redskins vs Bills(Bills)
The Bills are back and thier rampage to the top of the NFL is back on a they play the recently heartbroken Redskins as they found out the comeback of Tim Hightower has been cut short due to a torn ACL . I truly am sorry to here a guy who was basically buried in Arizona gets a second chanc e and gets taken out by unseen cicumstances, but the show must go on. Josh Beck is back and its worst than ever because he doesnt even have Santana Moss who has a broken hand. The Bills excellent blitx defense will be putting down beck all Sunday and if you thought those seven combined picks Beck and Grossman threw were bad ummmm i hear these Bills are pretty good at picking off Tom Brady can you imagine what they'll do to Beck.
Lions vs Broncos(Lions)
What time is it TEBOW TIME!!!! Mr Tebow went to work on those floundering Dolphins, the kids got game and hes good but...not that good slow your roll Tebow. The lions may be 30th in run defense but thier pass defense is highly effective and at the end of the day Tebow is a quarterback the pass is his first and the run his second. After Brandon Llyod being tradeded away the wide reciever core is basically devised of guys fresh into the league or have been here awhile but dont adjust well to change. Which is why you understand the reluctancy the swtchs QB's especially when the Recievers have gone on record saying they think he throws at wierd angles smh. Thier inability to gel will be Tebows undoing and ultiamltely his teams as from what I hear the Lions arent to kind to comebacks.
GAME OF THE WEEK ALERT
PATRIOTS VS STEELERS(Patriots)
Yes its finally here the matchup of the week The Unstoppable Wave versus the Unmovable Object
. Two very well developed teams one with a high profile defense and offense the other with the offense of the century . Now your wondering whose going to win it. Well The Ashton has your answer right here The Patriots, i know what your thinking this 19 year old is just another offense freak wrong mi amigos my favorite postition in football is actually DT . My reasoning is this the Patriots do one thing very well that any good athlete and team should do to be champions and that is ADAPT!!!!! The Patriots have the ability to decipher and breakdown defenses abilites and weaknesses. The fatal flaw of the Steelers is that they thier defesne is centered around masking and digusising defense to control the outsome of every battle its just that The Patriots will win the most imoportant battle the first battle the only battle that counts the battle of the MIND.
Cowboys vs Eagles(Eagles)
hahaha This ones for you Nick ok so here the breakdown youve been hearing it all week the Eagles have the best run game and the Cowgirls are the best at stopping it. What they've failed to mention is the Eagles still have an atrocious defense but are very high on the pass rush, which hahaha proves to be Romo's one weakeness 300 pound linemen falling on him. This is the key to stopping the Cowboys mojo. The Cowboys already have wide receiever issues where Dez is the only who seems to show up to help out Romo. The Eagles win because of Pass Rush.
Chargers vs Chiefs (Chargers)
Uh oh the Chiefs are on a four game win streak and oh yeah those Chargers guys just finihsed blowing a lead against an offensively childish Jets team, so yeah this week is looking rough for the Powder Blues, but the fact is they still have a very effective offense, and in case you guys forgot the Chiefs defense has taken a huge hit from injuries they're on the rise but all in all the Chargers are the overall better team even thought coaching is questionable sometimes this team is poised to win Sunday.
Browns vs 49ers (49ers)
AlthoughtJosh Morgan is out of comission the 49ers offesne is not Alex Smith should never have been taken over Aaron Rodgers but the fact is he was and hes in San Francisco and hes on fire. The run game has finally allowed for his pass game to actually suceed. The Browns lead by the Texas product Colt McCoy and Peyton Hillis is on the path to recovery but is not in comission to compete . Thier defense has a good pass rush but the fact is it does not let the dog pound get over the hump just yet thier need to be more pieces of the puzzle.
Thats it for Week 8 folks now im going to go do what you should be doing reading Andrews pick , and one more thing FOLLOW ME ON TWITTER AT @theashtonj and FOLLOW DREW @SkiBum90 we both post funny stuff and sports related stuff check it out!!!! Andrew's Redemption

First off, I want to apologize to any readers out there who listened to my predictions- I based my picks off of the wrong stats (for example: WAS was top 5 in points allowed, but Cam Newton was also a top 5 QB). Also, I made a rookie mistake on the TB vs CHI game- I picked TB based on the fact that they have won close games at home this season, but completely forgot that their ‘home’ game was across the pond in England (wow, blonde moment?). Anyway, to steal a line from Wes Mantooth, of Anchorman fame, “This week we spell redemption D-R-E-W”.

Arizona @ Baltimore: Teams are actually even on offense, but Baltimore’s defense will make Kevin Kolb (not gonna lie, I had to look up on ESPN who the starting QB is now) look like a rookie. Also, do you really think Baltimore isn’t going to show up huge after the flop against Jacksonville?
BALTIMORE

Minnesota @ Carolina: Okay, I’ll admit it. I slept on Cam Newton last week, thinking a respectable defense could keep him in check. NOPE. This week, they’re playing a mediocre (at best) Minnesota team, that is in such disarray that Christian Ponder has replaced Donavan McNabb. Both defenses are comparable, but the fact remains that Cam Newton is the absolute X-factor in this matchup. In addition, since there will be a home crowd helping Cam if he makes a rookie mistake or two, Carolina is the definite favorite here.
CAROLINA

Jacksonville @ Houston: Jacksonville, on average, allows over 100 rushing yards per game. Houston has Arian Foster, and they’re coming off a HUGE win over division rival Tennessee. Blaine Gabbert is respectable as an NFL QB, but the win over Baltimore was a fluke, because the Ravens offense failed to do ANYTHING until the 4th quarter.
HOUSTON

Miami @ NY Giants: Miami will get at least one win this year. Unfortunately, the Giants aren’t in a position to overlook any opponents, and do you really think a team with two rushing TD’s will be able to control the ball anywhere (let alone on the road)?
NY GIANTS

New Orlean @ St. Louis: This could be a trap game for the Saints, IF New Orleans was undefeated & their defense actually could shut down other teams. The defense hasn’t been playing as well as it could over the last couple of games, the Saints AREN’T undefeated, and therefore, St. Louis is in for a world of hurt.
NEW ORLEANS

Indianapolis @ Tennessee: Division matchups usually give the home team about a touchdown head-start. Seeing as the Colts are winless so far, I don’t see them picking up an important first win at a team that they’ve been oppressing for the last decade or so.
TENNESSEE

Washington @ Buffalo: Both defenses are awful, but Buffalo is coming off a bye week & has more talent on offense than John Beck & the second-strings. Also, so I don’t make the same mistake as last week, I noticed that the game is actually in Toronto; this will keep a decent home field advantage for Buffalo, seeing as they are right across the border & there are a ton of Buffalo fans in Canada (makes sense, since they are the closest team for people from Toronto). In related news, people in Vancouver still prefer watching the Grey Cup over the Seahawks.
BUFFALO

Detroit @ Denver: First off, Tim Tebow is still a heck of a leader. There’s something exciting in the Colorado air (according to my one and only friend at DU after I took a leave of absence)… oh, wait, that was the snow- six inches in 24 hours would get me excited for ski season too! As for the visiting Lions, it’ll be interesting to see how they play in snow (remember- Ford Field is an indoor stadium), and with Jahvid Best looking like he’ll have to sit out again, there’s a decent chance the Broncos will pull off another miracle. However, the forecast is expecting temperatures in the 50s, there is no snow expected once this storm system leaves (before Friday morning), and I can’t imagine Detroit losing 3 straight after starting 5-0. If you’re picking against the spread, I would stay away from this game at all costs, but since I have to make a pick, I’m going with my gut.
DETROIT

New England @ Pittsburgh: Possible ‘Game of the Week’ right here- the Steelers have a little history of winning teams, and New England had (without question) the most dominant team of the 2000s decade (2000-2009). The Pats still play much higher-scoring games; they average more points & yards than the Steelers, but also give up more points & yards. Normally, I would go with New England after a bye week, and it kills me to say this, but the Steelers have been showing up to play after a rough first few weeks and New England is starting to show its age at multiple positions. With defenses catching up to offenses (look at the decline of 300-yd passers this season), I’m going to have to go with the Steelers to beat the Patriots.
PITTSBURGH

Cincinnati @ Seattle: Horribly exciting game here- I’m not sure if anybody outside of the Seattle or Cincinnati regions could possibly care less about this matchup. The plus about being a Bengals fan, though, is that I’ll get to watch the rookie sensation AJ Green continually improve his play with rookie QB Andy Dalton. Defensively, Seattle has held two teams to under 24 points- Cleveland & Arizona. Cincinnati’s offense is significantly better than that of either the Cardinals or the Browns, and combining the offensive strength with a) an underrated defense and b) rest from a bye week, look for the Bengals to improve their pleasantly surprising record to 5-2.
CINCINNATI

Cleveland @ San Francisco: Do I really need to say anything about this? Cleveland is coming off a win, but they only managed to put up two field goals against an average Seahawks defense. The 49ers are bigger, stronger, more experienced, and at home. Expect this game to be over by halftime, definitely by the end of the 3rd quarter.
SAN FRANCISCO

Dallas @ Philadelphia: Simply looking at individual statistics, this would appear to be a huge mismatch (in favor of Philly). That couldn’t be farther from the truth, however, when you consider that Dallas has a slightly better record (3-3 overall vs. 2-4, and 3-0 vs. similar opponents compared to 2-1), and the Cowboys actually put up more points than the Eagles. I really want to take the Cowboys, seeing as they’re the underdog with a better ‘common opponent’ record. I just can’t get away from the fact that the Eagles are under a lot of pressure, they’re coming off a bye week (which always helps), and that it’s a home division matchup for them.
PHILADELPHIA

San Diego @ Kansas City: After the thrashing KC took in Week 1, everybody in the developed world jumped off the Chiefs’ bandwagon. Having said that, however, Kansas City has three straight wins notched under their belt, and Philip Rivers is not performing up to standards (neither how he played in previous seasons nor the crazy early-season pace set by quarterbacks all across the league). Would you believe that Matt Cassel has more touchdown passes than Rivers, and that Rivers also has more interceptions than touchdowns?! I feel weird saying this, but Kansas City will more than likely continue their winning ways and set up the AFC West race for some incredible drama during the second half of the season.

Introduction: Andrew

As many of you may or may not know, the NFL is unofficially America’s favorite pastime. Ashton, one of my good friends from the year I spent at Valparaiso University, and I are both huge football fans, but we also geek out when it comes to analyzing matchups and predicting who will win each week. But what, might you ask, does a Bengals fan know about how a winning team plays? (Same goes for Ashton- he’s a Texans fan). Fortunately, I am able to see past my personal bias of hoping the Bengals perform and look squarely at the numbers- perks of being a Finance major at school, and developing low expectations after 20 years of losing football. Anyway, Ashton & I will be making weekly predictions of the NFL games; we’ll win a few, we’ll lose a few, but it’ll be a fun adventure & we both are confident that we will come out with a majority of correct picks.

Who Dey!

Andrew
